WHO IS BAMBAM?
Greetings & Salutations
I am Ali AKA BamBam (a nod to Alabama in True Romance, one of the best films of all time).
The story of BamBam begins with a desire to appreciate the detail and to embrace the present, to always be mindful that 'these are the days'. I take inspiration from the freedom of the mountains and the recklessness of the sea, I want my items to be noticed and invoke a delight within you. I want to bring handcrafted items to you that have a bold, fearless character, which cannot be created any other way than by the hand of a rebellious maker.
HOW I DESIGN
The process of making is slow and thoughtful
I use traditional processes of slab building and throwing on the wheel and incorporate new and experimental techniques to make every piece unique. No two creations will be identical - silblings, not clones. I work with diverse clay bodies and vibrant glazes to craft edgy, distinctive pieces designed to bring bold energy into your life. In my experience ceramicists often avoid commissions, but they are one of my favourite things to do and no idea is too wild..
One of clay's virtues is that, once fired, it has longevity.
The items I create are designed to last for subsequent generations to enjoy. All pieces are fired in new, a state of the art electric kiln, significantly kinder to the planet than gas kilns. There is no clay wastage, all scraps are reclaimed and reused and all excess glaze is saved.
