WHO IS BAMBAM?
Greetings & Salutations
I am Ali AKA BamBam - a nod to Alabama in True Romance, one of the best films of all time.
I make ceramics because I care about the objects we choose to surround ourselves with. I have zero restraint where colour is concerned, love an unusual form and make pieces that have presence.
My work is functional but it doesn't take itself too seriously. I make everything by hand, using both the wheel and hand-building techniques. No two pieces are exactly alike - one-offs are very much the point.

HOW I DESIGN
Made slowly. Not necessarily quietly.
I work with a mix of wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques, I love to experiement depending on what I'm making anf where the idea takes me.
I love bold forms, contrasting colours and glazes that make a piece feel individual. Because I make everything by hand, there will always be slight variations - think siblings not clones.
I also take on commissions and love making something that doesn't already exist. The more unusual the brief, the better - go wild!

Made to last.
Ceramics are inherently slow. Each piece passes through multiple stages before it's finished and once fired, it's made to be lived with for years.
I reclaim and reuse clay wherever possible, save excess glaze and keep waste to a minimum. My work is fired in a modern electric kiln, rather than a gas kiln.
I make in small quantities, by hand, with the intention that these are pieces you keep - not things you replace.
